State Farm’s Driver Feedback helps iPhone users become better drivers
You know that using a smartphone while driving is not a good idea, quite the contrary. Sure you can rely on some GPS navigation software or listen to audio content, and that’s about it. However, State Farm may have another use case for the iPhone-ownin’ drivers.
Dubbed Driver Feedback, this free to download application turns the iPhone into a pocket-sized driving coach, providing users with individual feedback about their driving habits and then offers tips on how people can drive more safely.
Using the device’s accelerometer, Driver Feedback measures three essential driving behaviors – acceleration, braking and cornering.
When activated at the end of each trip, the driver is provided a score and a log of potentially dangerous driving activities. This score can then be compared with other drivers or with the same driver’s other trips.
On the other hand, the application also provides the driver tips for improvement, as well as showing previous trips on a map, illustrating where potentially dangerous activities occurred…
