Acer Iconia Tab A500, ASUS Eee Pad Transformer getting Honeycomb 3.1 update in June

We know the Motorola Xoom is the first Android tablet to get the Honeycomb 3.1 update, while Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 will ship with the update already loaded. What about other tablets?

Asus and Acer have reportedly said their ASUS Eee Pad Transformer and Acer Iconia tab A500 devices will get the Honeycomb 3.1 treatment in June. The update will be issued over-the-air, bringing performance improvements, UI enhancements such as stretchable widgets and new task switcher, as well as support for USB peripherals.

Meanwhile, LG wasn’t that specific – the Korean company did confirm the update is coming, but no dates were given.

I would expect to see every Honeycomb tablet getting the 3.1 update by the end of summer. Considering the increasing competition and the pressure from the Apple iPad, one could easily assume device makers are racing one another to be the first to update their tablets with the latest version of the operating system. We’ll be following the news coming from the major tablet makers and let you know as soon as we hear something new. Stay tuned…
